About Meghan Swartz
My name is Meghan Swartz, and I am a Pittsburgh native and graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. For more than 10 years, I have developed content and communications strategies for organizations in Pittsburgh’s nonprofit, local government and small business sectors. In a field with boundless space for creativity, I take pride in developing strategies that are both imaginative and actionable. I approach each project with an open mind, a passion for the work and a deep respect for the organizations I serve. Here is a summary of my experience:
I served for nearly seven years as associate director of communications for Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre (PBT), where I led the organization’s messaging, media relations and content marketing strategies and grew a following of more than 50,000 social media followers.
Before joining PBT, I served as communications director for the Township of Moon, where I launched a print newsletter, which earned first place in the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors’ annual communications contest.
On a freelance and consulting basis, I have managed public relations for popular Pittsburgh restaurants DiAnoia’s Eatery and Pizzeria Davide and contributed to the newspaper of the Allegheny County Bar Association. I served for over a decade as proofreader for PPG’s quarterly magazine, PPG Global, and previously contributed to two TribLive publications and to the marketing team of the American Red Cross Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, along with a foundation in journalistic ethics and AP Style.
Over a decade in the marketing and communications field, I have built a reputation as a creative writer, eagle-eyed editor and dedicated teammate. Please don’t hesitate to ask about my references or find me on LinkedIn. For a sampling of my work, please visit my portfolio.
